Monkeys

The Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta) :

• It is also called as the rhesus monkey.
• It is one of the best known monkey species. 
• It is listed as Least Concern by IUCN.
• Found throughout Norhern India.
• The threats to this species include hunting, habitat degradation and fragmentation.

The Bonnet Macaque ( Macaca radiata) :

 It is endemic to southern India.

The Assamese Macaque (Macaca assamensis) :

• It is found in Assam and North eastern India.
• It is listed as Near Threatened by IUCN.

The LionTailed Macaque (Macaca silenus) :

• It is endemic to the Western Ghats of South India.
• It is listed as Endangered.

Langurs

The Gray Langur or the Hanuman Langur (Presbytis entellus) :

Golden Langur (Trachypithecus geei) :

•  It is considered sacred by many Himalayan people.
• Classified as enangered bu IUCN.
• It is found in a small region of western Assam, India and in the neighboring foothills of the Black Mountains of Bhutan.

The Nilgiri Langur (Presbytis johni) :

• It is found in the Nilgiri Hills of the Western Ghats in South India.
• Its range also includes Kodagu in Karnataka,Kodayar Hills in Tamil Nadu and many other hilly areas in Kerala and Tamil nadu.

Apes

•  It is found in northeast India - south of Brahmaputra and east of the Dibang Rivers.
